The best time to embark on
the enchanting odyssey of the Kedarkantha trek is during the winter months,

- The trek
commences with a road journey from Dehradun to Sankri, covering a distance
of 210 KM. The drive takes you through the last 22 kilometres, winding
through Govind National Park, offering glimpses of the natural beauty that
sets the stage for the Kedarkantha Trek. As you approach Sankri, the
stunning landscapes unfold, preparing you for the trekking expedition.
Arriving around 5:00 PM, witness the sun setting behind the Greater
Himalayas, casting a warm glow over the mountains. Spend the evening
exploring the local market and capturing the essence of Sankri. A
delicious dinner awaits at the hotel, providing the perfect conclusion to
the day.
- The real
adventure begins on Day 2, as the trek takes you from Sankri to Juda Ka
Talab. Covering a distance of 6 KM over approximately 5 hours, the trail
winds through dense forests and meadows, gradually gaining altitude. The
pristine Juda Ka Talab, situated at 9100ft, becomes the tranquil overnight
campsite.
- The trek
continues to the Kedarkantha Base, a 4 KM journey taking around 2.5 hours.
The trail meanders through snow-covered landscapes, providing a
mesmerizing experience. Upon reaching the base, at an altitude of 11250ft,
the enchanting surroundings create a perfect setting for stargazing.
- Day 4 is
the pinnacle of the adventure, taking trekkers from the base camp to the
summit of Kedarkantha Peak. Covering a distance of 7 KM in 6-7 hours, the
trek reaches a Kedarkantha
trek altitude of 12500 ft. The awe-inspiring Kedarkantha Summit
presents a breathtaking panorama of the Himalayas, a reward for the
challenging yet exhilarating journey.
- After
conquering the peak, Day 5 marks the return journey to Sankri from Juda Ka
Talab. The final day concludes with a return journey from Sankri to
Dehradun, completing the circle of this Himalayan odyssey.
